Tour Some of Southern Wisconsin's Best Pottery Studios Returns to Milton
The Clay Collective's Spring Pottery Tour brings the public up close and personal to one of the world's oldest art forms. Art sometimes gets dusty, and unapproachable in a gallery space, and that should not be. Rick Lamore one of the collective's founding members believes their event allows the public to truly understand the process behind the craft of the finished product. "I feel we’ve made great inroads on the local population that people appreciate something they’ve never seen before. I do a demonstration and they see the process that produces that vase on the shelf,' says Lamore owner of Broadwing Clay Studio. The First Rock County Mega Sale Of The Year Is This Weekend
The Rock County Mega Sale is more than simply a flea market. The two day event (Friday 12 through Satuday, 13) at the Rock County Fairgrounds' Craig Center is also crafters/DIYers/artists and direct product sales, all a passion for the event's coordinator, Deanna Sorenson has been at the helm of the Mega Sale since 2018 when she took it over from Paige Fisher. Through social media Sorenson grew Rock County Mega Sale's popularity and the event expanded to 50 vendors. Fisher owner of the Cake Connection is still involved with Rock County Mega Sale as she handles all the hot sandwiches and bakery items out of the Craig Center's kitchen.
"My little tag line there's something for everyone at the mega sale, kids adults, guys and gals," says Deanna about flea market-esque event she has cultivated. One third of the vendors with booths are crafters/makers/artists. While flea market type items like antiques, collectibles and rummage take up another third, the final third devoted to direct sale companies .
The Rock County Mega Sale takes place this Friday, January 12th to Saturday, January 13th at the Craig Center on the Rock County Fair Grounds from 8am-3pm. Admission is free. Parking is free as well.

Halloween is Finally here. Lakes Edition has compiled a list of places to trick or treat and family friendly events.
Before you go here are few tips from the Food and Drug Administration, Consumer Product Safety Commission and Centers for Disease Control recommend for keeping your Trick-Or-Treaters safe and happy.
If possible, Wear bright, reflective costumes or add strips of reflective tape so you’ll be more visible once the sun goes down. Or carry a flashlight.
Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected at home. Avoid candy that have tampered wrappers.
The FDA joins eye care professionals in discouraging consumers from using decorative (colored) contact lenses that have not been prescribed by a doctor. In case of a food allergy, check the label to ensure the allergen isn’t present.

The 174th Walworth County Fair Wisconsin's Rich Agricultural History Celebrated
Billed as the largest county fair (over 135,000 attendees in 2020) in Wisconsin, Walworth County's Labor Day Weekend fete is hardly showing it's age. At 174 years old, the fair goes enthusiastically beyond the traditional attractions like 4-H agricultural. exhibits, carnival rides and funnel cake. There is no other fair in Wisconsin possibly the Great Lakes region that hosts both honey condiment and bird house building competitions. No need to explain those hand to hand feats of carpentry and culinary genius, other than mention only locally sourced honey is eligible to compete.

The Albany Tractor and Toy Show
The 13th Annual Tractor and Toy Show
will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 this Sunday,
August 27th at the Albany Lions Club, 402 N Cincinnati St. The day long event takes place in two locations.
Visitors will enjoy exhibits, displays, and vendors at the toy show taking place inside the Lions Club. Outdoors a peer, crowd judged tractor show, flea market, Bounce House and food vendors fill the Lions' grounds.
Check out Raffles (50/50 throughout day, guns and cash drawing at 2:30pm) And for the kiddies, there is also a Kid’s Tractor Pull with prizes (registration 12:30-Pull starts at 1:00)
For those wishing to enter in the tractor show there is a $15 registration fee with entry plaques to the first 50 exhibitors. Tractors must be in place by noon.

Coffee Break Festival Wakes Up Downtown Stoughton This Saturday
The annual celebrated event commemorates according to local lore the very first coffee break in the U.S. Cpffee Break Festival pays homage to a story about a group of Norwegian, coffee drinking women who one day after working hours in a local tobacco warehouse decided to go home for a coffee break. And America's cherished, caffeine habit was born.

In the Summer 1972 the very first Tobacco Heritage Days took place. The festival ran a Full Page ad in the Edgerton Reporter honoring important moments in the tobacco town's history: 1869 First Tobacco Warehouse, 1897 the Tobacco Exchange Bank is Organized among the many highlights. The celebration then was reflecting on Edgerton's proweress as Cigar leaf Capital of America.
This weekend 51 years later, the festival focuses more on the major contribution farmers have made to Edgerton and the region.
The three day event (Friday July 14 - Sunday July 16) takes place across downtown Edgerton and mainly at historic Racetrack Park. Tobacco Heritage Days is less about the large medicinal leaf and more about honoring the legacy of Edgerton area farmers. At one time the event showcased a tobacco spitting contest, one competition that won't be part of the 51 year celebration.

Honoring Our Veterans Memorial Day Weekend Events Around Southern Wisconsin
Here are some of the towns around the region paying homage to America's war veterans.
Beloit Memorial Day Parade. The United Veteran’s Memorial Day Parade will go through downtown Beloit and South Beloit to honor our veterans and fallen heroes. The parade starts at 9 a.m. in South Beloit on Blackhawk Boulevard and will continue north into Beloit. The annual Memorial Day parade starts 9:00 a.m. in South Beloit May 30.
Cottage Grove The American Legion Auxiliary and local Boy Scouts will hold a Memorial Day Flag Retirement (burning) Ceremony in front of the Town Hall beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 27th, with an indoor reception to follow.
DeForest Veterans Memorial Foundation will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park in DeForest. The program will begin at 11:45 a.m. and feature patriotic speeches and a color guard tribute. The organization is choosing to honor the Air Force this year as it celebrates its 75th anniversary. CONCERTS IN THE PARK RETURN TO CENTRAL PARK IN EDGERTON
After a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Arts Council of Edgerton is happy to bring back a musical summer filled with Concerts in the Park. Bring a lawn chair, relax, and listen to an evening of free music! All shows take place at the Menhall Pavilion in Central Park on Wednesdays starting at 6:30 pm. Alternate rain dates are noted or will be scheduled at a later date. The Edgerton Band Boosters will provide concessions for sale.
The Arts Council relies on the generosity of many sponsors to make these wonderful events happen at no cost to the community. This year, a special thanks is due to the Wartmann Endowment for the Performing Arts for an especially generous contribution that allowed additional shows to be added.
