The Ice Castles Return to Geneva National Resort in Lake Geneva

Conjuring up the bon hiver spirit of St. Paul's Winter Carnival and Carnaval du Quebec the Ice Castles in Lake Geneva ignite the wonderment, and majestic solitude that the season truly represents. Why does the celebration of winter have to end the day after Christmas? For the fourth year running Geneva National Resort is hosting a winter wonderland of ice in it's back yard part of the winter festival season in Lake Geneva. 4000 hours of ice craftsmanship, 10,000 handmade icicles the Ice Castles are a labor of detail and passion first brought to fruition in Utah by this event's founder Brent Christensen. Ice Castles is held in four locations across the U.S.

This year's Lake Geneva version at Geneva National might look a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, the ice castles feature many of their most popular attractions from previous years such as the LED-lit sculptures synchronized to music, thrones of ice, slides, fountains and ice-carved tunnels. Gone are the some of the narrower ice passage ways, and all attendees must register for tickets ahead of time to limit the number of visitors per day.

Selfie worthy any time of day, but chose a visit later in the day as the sun sets to get the best shots of the ice castles, illuminated by the color, LED light show. Have fun and stay safe!
