Family Activities
Road trip! Pack the bags, bring the snacks, hydration options. But travelling for hours in a car the novelty wears off. What to do in these precious family moments? In these times of ever present smart phones at everyone's side what about taking a real break and powering down the screens and living in the moment? Here some family activities that are great ways to kill the boredom and maybe even foster a little more connectedness.

Would You Rather?
When local sports radio hosts run out of material they often turn to "Would You Rather?" a great time filler. It's a great travel game too. The rules are simple, one person is the dispenser of two questions with equally unappealing options. For example: Would you rather rub your nose with sandpaper? Or listen to the same song for two straight hours? You get the point.
20 Questions
Another classic time waster. One person in the car chooses a famous person or movie, place and everyone else on the trip takes turns asking questions to determine the true answer. The person who asks the least amount of questions and gets the right answer wins.
License Plate Game
A classic kids game passed down for car riding generations. The family can work as a team or individually searching for cars on the road or parked with different state license plates. The goal is to find all the states of the U.S. and provinces of Canada while your at it.
Roadside Scavenger Game
Challenge each person in the car to find the spot the most unique objects/items outside their car windows. Did someone see a windmill? Or a goat on a roof? The family member with the most unique sights discovered wins.
Population Pop Quiz
A fun little activity, everyone guesses the population of a town they have just arrived in. Start the game when the Welcome sign is spotted or when the road speed limit reduces down to 25 mph.
Name That Tune
Thank god for radio. No really where else can you listen to five different country music stations at once, thanks to AM radio. Scan the radio and pick a song but only let a few notes play. Can you guess that tune in five notes?
