Due to a Dramatic Rise in COVID-19 Cases Public Health Madison & Dane County Reinstates Mask Mandate

Effective Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, a mask mandate has returned to Dane County. The county's newest mask wearing order is for people in any enclosed building where other individuals outside their own household or living unit, could be present. Janel Heinrich, Director of Public Health Madison & Dane County believes that."vaccines are our best tool to protect our community. Madison's Mayor also spoke publicly about the new mandate,“as virus spread is fueled by the prevalence of the delta variant, it is clear that we need Public Health asks that businesses post signs reminding customers and staff of the face covering requirement."
As the CDC has stated, the delta variant is a mutation of the original COVID-19 virus, newly released data has indicated that the delta variant is 2x more contagious and spreads more easily than the original COVID-19 virus,
“As cases continue to increase, requiring face coverings is an easy added layer of protection to further help keep people safe, including our youngest children not yet eligible to be vaccinated," Heinrich added.
The order will be in effect until September 16, 2021 at 12:01 a.m.
Rock County Health Department Reinstates Mask Mandate

Effective Monday, August 16th, 2021, all Rock County staff and visitors to County facilities will be required to wear masks Who should wear a mask in indoor, public settings? People who are unvaccinated, vaccinated individuals and those with underlying health conditions should all put on masks according to Rock County's new mask guidelines.
Rock County Health Department Lifts Mask Mandate

Health Officer Katrina Harwood announces Friday, May 14th, 2021 that Rock County is lifting its' mask order effective immediately. The change in policy reflects new the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) COVID-19 guidance for fully vaccinated people. CDC and independent studies reveal that fully vaccinated people are protected from COVID-19 and can safely resume regular activities. The same demographic is shown to be less likely to spread the virus to others. Effective Tuesday, May 18th visitors to Rock County governmental buildings are no longer required to wear masks.
Effective July 20, 2020 All Visitors to Rock County Governmental Buildings Must Wear Masks
Rock County facilities will have disposable masks for visitors to County buildings who do not have their own face covering. The worn mask must cover both nose and mouth. People exempt from wearing masks include: visitors with a medical condition, or disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering., is hearing impaired, or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication or younger than five years old. Visitors who are not exempt and are not complaint with Rock County's mask wearing mandate will be asked to leave the property.
