Couples Tying The Knot in The Winter 2024 WedPlan Madison Is MLK Weekend

Madison WI - 25 years ago, Dana Gee began her career with WedPlan. The company, Joy Publications LLC, was founded in 1982 by Pat and Larry Brady to create a guide for future brides and grooms helping them with the daunting challenge of planning their special day. Gee liked her job so much she took over Joy Publications from the Brady’s in 2021. WedPlan was and is a printed & digital guide of bridal and wedding planning tips but is also a website, vendor app, and wedding shows. One is a two-day long event hosted at the Alliant Energy Center in January and another is a one-day event at the Madison Marriott West in May. Gee is excited to tell you that some of the advertisers she has worked with since the 1990s are still with WedPlan today. That is a testament to her commitment and love of the wedding industry and the success of the events and publication.

The two-day event spread out at the Alliant Energy Exhibition Hall is experiential and informational. WedPlan Madison's inviting layout greets visitors at the door with wedding scape design ideas. Attendees entering the main hall will find a showroom floor of over 150 wedding industry vendors, from floral design, to invitations, lounge furniture rentals, to photobooth services, catering, professional photography studios, and more.

In the middle of WedPlan Madison’s show is what Gee calls "Inspiration Alley." Guests can view the latest fashions, lounge furniture settings, cake and dessert displays and other key ingredients for a successful wedding day.

Each guest to WedPlan Madison’s show will receive a complimentary wedding guide. The magazine is logically divided into three sections. The 1st portion is the planning guide, which also includes a handy checklist and a place where couples can take notes. The second section is about finding your vendors and each article is followed by local vendors’ advertisements. The final section is the inspiration section where readers will see gorgeous photos of real weddings and styled shoots.

At the event, there are also samples from the vendors served up at the booths, a cash bar at the lobby and in Inspiration Alley. If all that planning has made you and your significant other hungry hot dogs and the concession fare are for sale as well.

For Gee, WedPlan’s wedding show is where couples can come to one place under one roof for inspiration and asking those looming planning questions to local wedding vendors, "it will help you come up with ideas you hadn't thought of."

2024 according to Dana is  about a change in fashion, beautiful decor statement pieces, and fun guest experiences. Gee says couples are choosing what is important to them and personalizing their wedding to match. While some might stick with traditions, many couples are thinking outside the box to make their wedding a unique experience for themselves and their guests. "It's their day...so their wedding, their way!" says Gee.

Mark your planners for the 13th and 14th of January (Saturday and Sunday.)  $10 for the entire day (11 AM - 4 PM), which includes the complimentary WedPlan guide, free advice, and delicious samples from participating vendors.

WedPlan Madison 2024 takes place at the Alliant Energy Exhibition Hall. The exhibition hall is located at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, just off John Nolen Drive in Madison.
