One hundred and seventy-one years ago Lake Koshkonong was a vast marsh. The Sac, Fox, Potawatomi and Winnebago (Ho-chunk) tribes lived along its' shores and paddled along meadows of wild rice in birch-bark canoes to harvest rice, lake fish, ducks, and clams. More

TOWN OF THE WEEK


Situated at headwaters of the Yahara River this Dane County town was originally named for a Scottish Immigrant, James ___________ in 1843. In 1871, the Scot's family name was briefly affixed to a newly established post office until a government official realized there was already a town in Wisconsin with the same name.  The Solution add a "ville" to the name.
