Lake Belleview
Back to Fishing Report.
Like numerous 19th century Wisconsin towns Belleville positioned its' economy around agriculture. And as many burgeoning villages dammed a nearby stream to create a mill pond for milling,
Lake Belle View was born out of essentially a mill pond. But unlike other dammed rivers, the people of Belleville decided to free the nearby Sugar River from the legacy of milling and create an entirely new separate but contiguous body of water, Lake Belle View. The engineering feat required to create a independent lake was controversial as the dam is still very much intact. But today the lake solely exists fed by a clear running cold spring.
Lake Belle View is a 44 acre lake located in Dane County. It has a maximum depth of 7 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye and Catfish.
Catch and release fishing on Lake Belle View for largemouth and smallmouth bass is open year round unless otherwise noted. Lake Belle View is a silent sports lake, no motor boats or jet skis permitted..
