Experience a night immersed in nature at one of the many campsites at Dane County Parks. Opportunities include individual campsites that can be reserved for tents, campers, and RVs and group campsites that can be reserved by larger groups of campers for tent camping. Reservations are required. Individual campsite reservations include a complimentary daily dog permit good for the duration of your stay.

WISCONSIN STATE PARK SYSTEM

Camping opportunities at Wisconsin State Park system properties include standard and group campsites, indoor group camps, backpack and water access sites and equestrian campgrounds. There are also accessible campsites and cabins for persons with disabilities. Site descriptions and photos of many sites are available on the Wisconsin State Parks reservation website and may show maximum vehicle length, driveway length, site access and other details.

Reservations and Park Activity Permits available starting November 2nd

Dane County Parks Press Release:


Beginning Monday, November 2, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. residents and visitors can make their 2027 reservations at campgrounds and shelters located within Dane County Park or purchase their 2027 park activity permits.


Camping:

Dane County Parks offers electric and non-electric campsites for tent or RV camping at five different campgrounds. The campgrounds provide many opportunities for outdoor fun and recreation. Accessible campsites are available at all campgrounds. Babcock County Park Campground will be closed for park improvements in 2027. Dane County Parks also has several group camping sites for groups to enjoy the camping experience together. These can be reserved by youth groups, organizations, clubs, or for gatherings with family and friends.


Shelters:

Dane County Parks has several park shelters that may be reserved for family get-togethers, company picnics, receptions and other events. Shelter facilities range from modern sites that accommodate large groups to small, rustic shelters perfect for family picnics. Many shelters include restroom facilities, electricity and have playground equipment nearby.


Activity Permits:

While visiting and hiking in Dane County Parks is free, some activities require a permit. Dane County offers premier facilities for boating, dog parks, disc golf, ski trails, bike trails, off-road mountain bike trails, equestrian trails, aeromodelling, night sky viewing, and metal detecting. Activity permits and passes make a great gift for the active outdoor enthusiast.
