According to a former head of Wisconsin's Department of Tourism (a Friday morning guest on Big Radio in Monroe), The Midwest Horse Fair "is the largest Midwest Horse Fair in the U.S." What ever that means.
The 45th annual Midwest Horse Fair is back in the city of Madison for one weekend of demonstrations, exhibitions, shows and exhibitors. Madisonians are advised to exercise caution around the isthmus city as horse trailers, pickup trucks, and RVs stream into the area. Dane County Sheriff's officials warn drivers to expect significant delays along the Beltline, John Nolen Drive and Rimrock Road between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
There are a number of horse-related activities the family can watch such as the Mustang Challenge, which premiered in 2019, a competition of legendary proportions designed to spotlight the all-American Mustang. The Midwest Horse Fair is the largest three day horse themed event in the entire U.S. There is also a rodeo, and horse obstacle course event.
From the Wisconsin Horse Council: The Midwest Horse Fair® is owned by the Wisconsin Horse Council, a nonprofit organization that promotes the equine industry in the state of Wisconsin. All event proceeds are returned to the Horse Council to be used for grants and scholarships, trail improvement, leadership programs, and communication to help future growth and development of the equine industry. The Midwest Horse Fair takes place April 17 - 19 at the Alliant Energy in Madison.
