The
Inaugural Season of the Beloit Sky Carp
Baseball is back live in Southern Wisconsin. Check out our region's sole Major League Baseball (MLB) affiliate the Beloit Sky Carp. Yes, you read that correctly the Sky Carp. Perhaps you are more familiar with the Beloit Snappers who took to the diamond every summer at Harry C. Pohlman Field since 1982. The Beloit Sky Carp, a Miami Marlins High-A affiliate began their first season in 2021. The Snappers name retreated into history when the Studer family purchased the team in 2020 and fans voted on a new moniker, the Sky Carp in the off season. The team's new logo and mascot is Wisconsin's ubiquitous, four season feathered friend, the Canadian goose.
Quint Studer is the Beloit baseball teams' new owner. Quint in a previous life was a special education teacher at Janesville Parker also owns the Pensacola Blue Wahoos another minor league affiliate.
The new team name also is the demarcation point from when the Snappers played their last game at Pohlman Field and moved into their new digs at ABC Supply Stadium.
A bigger stadium, means more stateline baseball fans have a chance to be up close and personal with a real MLB team. "We are the only affiliated minor league team in our area, we have the future stars of the major leagues," says Josh Flickinger, the Sky Carp's Media and Public Relations Manager. The transitory nature of farm system baseball, where any single player can be called up, makes teams like the Beloit Sky Carp focus more on the fan. "Beyond players on the field we don't have control over that but we do have control over the experience," says Flickinger. For starters, at the conclusion of every Friday night game fans will be treated to a fireworks show. Saturdays feature merchandise giveaways and more. All that with award winning stadium food make a Sky Carp game a great family outing.
If you are unable to attend a home game the Beloit Sky Carp can be heard on Big Radio WCLO 1230 AM and 92.7FM.
