Storrs Lake Wildlife Area

Milton's Great Green Oasis

The famed underground railroad stop, Milton House is just one of many reasons to visit the historic city of Milton. There is of course the historic district of Milton College and don't forget the Milton Spring Fling, and great new locally owned boutiques like Barn Door Studio. But at the end of the day or just beginning one at sunrise Storr's Lake on the city's edge is just a three minute drive from the iconic Milton House on Storr's Lake Road a day trip worthy segment of the Ice Age Trail,

The 754 acre, Storr's Lake Wild Life Area's segment of the Ice Age Trail is just beyond the Highway 26 underpass. From the park's parking lot you will find two trail entry points through medium forested property with little to slight grade. The main "yellow" marked trail winds through decidious trees and native, shade loving perennials. The path winds past Bowers Lake, a smallish body of water, Round Lake and marsh land.  There are no facilities such as bathrooms, a cleaning station or even garbage cans so plan your trip to the park or lake wisely. You will find the boat ramp just off to the right and down a a slight hill. This parking lot serves disabled visitors. And as always check the hull of your boat for aquatic invasive species before or after leaving the lake.

Ice Fishing Tips:

In late January to early February panfishing is good most notably perch and pike. Walleye bite is sometimes variable due to its' popularity with anglers but Storr's Lake has an "exceptional" adult walleye population, according to DNR fisheries biologist Don Bush.Shiner. There are four public access points for Kosh. Try the end North Shore Rd, It is quiet but anglers are finding  perch there. Also check out Vinnie HaHa Road there’s action going on there. Norm’s Hideaway Bar & Grill (closed) at end of Kuahn Road off Carcajou road is good place to enter Kosh as well. Try out Royce-Dallman park off N. Charlie Bluff Road.
