Late Season Conditions - 2/22/2021 by Brian Huser, Rock River Bait Box
The weather forecast for the next two weeks means that all that accumulated snow will melt off. But right now you're dealing with a lot of slush out there on the ice. It's a sloppy, nasty mess out there right now. With the snow gone in the near future it's definitely looking like a late, ice situation here on area lakes.
Hopefully with warmer temps snow melt off will boost levels oxygen levels and we'll start seeing an. uptick in fishing action in a couple-or three weeks.,
Lastly, remember to practice Selective Harvest to limit overfishing of species more prescient due to COVID-19. Do not take the bag limit each day.
Clear Lake
Reports are pretty much the same as last week, but now you have the slush to deal with. No changes in access points, or pressure.
Lake Kegonsa
No major updates to report on Kegonsa for this week.
Lake Koshkonong
Large perch and crappie are biting good, and walleye bite is starting to pick up as well. With late season here pike bite should part pick up as well.
Lake Ripley
Panfish activity or bites remains consistent. No change in access points. Watch for the slush.
Lake Waubesa
Fish action trending to late season panfish and pike starting to pick up Access points haven’t changed.
Rock Lake
Previous fishing action in area still holding true. Access points have not changed.
Whitewater Lake
Not much of change as far as reports go, fish action goes..No new access points have been reported..
Overall, Travel is challenging on the sloppiness. The snow will melt off in the next week or so, fishing action will pick up and the Rock River will be opening up soon!
