Make a Daytrip to Footville For the Footville Community Rummage Sale

This Friday marks the 45th year of the Footville Rummage Sale, the brainchild of local resident, Georgia Honeysett. Honeysett whose family owned Honeysett's Variety Store in downtown Footville, created and coordinated the original sale keeping it going for many years. The Rummage event has changed a few hands, and in last few years has been under the guidance of Teena Monk-Gerber. Teena has been living in Footville since 1976.  Today, the Footville Rummage Sale is much more than finding a great lamp or exercise bicycle. Other businesses and organizations in Footville are participating making the weekend sale much more of a carnival or market like.

For starters, if you come to the Footville Community Rummage Sale hungry there many food options for you. Head over to the Footville Volunteer Fire Dept for a pancake breakfast.  There are also other food vendors stationed over that the Luther Valley Historical Society parking lot Friday and Saturday.  Look for a brat fund raiser or step into the Footville Cafe for cheese sandwich and help a good cause. The Luther Valley Historical Society, located in the former Methodist church, is holding an open house Saturday morning.

With so many community members opening their garages and yards for the sale there is something for everyone to find and take home. According to Monk-Gerber, Georgia Honeysett was so committed to a good sale her obituary stated "Georgia started the Footville Village Rummage Sale so she wouldn't miss a bargain!"
