The Green County Humane Society is a private nonprofit 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide shelter and humane care to lost and homeless pets, reunite lost pets with their families.
GCHS is funded by private donations. GCHS is also a contracted service provider for Green County, the City of Monroe, and Lafayette County’s stray animals. For Lafayette County, the contract only covers dogs. GCHS is part of the No-kill Network.

At GCHS, we often take in animals needing more individualized care and attention. Through our foster network, we have placed hundreds of animals into the care of compassionate, dedicated foster volunteers. In doing so, we have saved and improved the lives of these sweet, vulnerable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.

If you’re interested in adopting an animal, please follow the steps below.
1.Fill out an online application, please use the buttons on the right. A shelter employee will reach out to you via email.
2. We are open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. We are happy to schedule an appointment with you to meet the dog or cat of your choosing or you are welcome to come in during our open hours to do so.
